OUR VILLAGE PLAN
Killinchy
Community Hall began as a Millennium Project designed to provide a
social, cultural and above all community based focus for Killinchy and
the surrounding area.
Members
of the local community came together and founded
Killinchy and District
Community Development Association Ltd
which was set up to manage the
Community Hall
and which is still run entirely by volunteers.
It is not
run by the council and has no permanent paid staff.
Additional
volunteers are urgently
required
and if you can spare just a couple of hours per month; perhaps
to assist
with general care-taking, administration, marketing,
book-keeping or IT,
we would love to hear from you.
Or to contact the committee regarding any other matters email
us.
We would also love to hear from people who may be able to
assist on an
ad-hoc basis and help with things such as catering
for events, helping
with plumbing or decorating, or the occasional
supervision of
activities.
The
Community Hall currently hosts a range of activities including a
Mother
and Toddler group, Brownies, exercise classes, craft activities
and
Kid’s sports classes; as well as providing a meeting place for local
social and sporting societies. All of which are listed on our current
timetable.
The Community Hall also regularly hosts meetings and
seminars on behalf
of organizations such as PACT, Age Concern, East Down
Rural Communities
Network and the District Policing Partnership and, of
course, is the local
Polling Station at Election time.
In
addition to Birthday Parties for kids and adults, the Community Hall is
available to hire for “one off” events such as quiz nights, fund
raisers,
AGM’s and demonstrations.
To book such an event or
alternatively if you would like to start your
own class or meeting, or
if you have suggestions for
new classes/events/activities
please contact us.
